Tasting Notes

2021 marks our eighth vintage of Lamonica Cabernet Sauvignon bottled. For us, the Little Giant Lamonica Cabernet Sauvignon illustrates to us each year why it is so akin to it’s namesake (our Newfoundland dogs). Both are dependable, regal, approachable and most of all BIG! The Newfoundland breed was originally bred to jump into the freezing North Atlantic waters to rescue sailors who had fallen overboard. In a sense, they did the challenging work that no one else was able to do. Our Lamonica Cabernet Sauvignon does the same: maximum satisfaction with minimal effort. The 2021 vintage of this lovely wine showcases brilliant notes of blueberries, sandalwood and granite on the nose, while blackberries and granite fill the mouth with grippy tannin and racy acidity. This is an age worthy wine that is great to drink now, but will evolve beautifully over the next 10-15 years.
